Along the trails of Classic Laya trek, there are plenty of cultural and natural sightseeing opportunity while visiting local Dzongs, monasteries and villages.

We embark in for Classic Laya Trek as you arrive at Paro on Druk Air A319, the only national carrier, complete the visa formalities and transfer to hotel. First we visit the national symbol of Bhutan, Taktsang Monastery located at the cliff of the mountain. Then we continue our classic Laya trek as we pass along Shana, Thangthangkha, Jangothang, Lingishi, Chebisa, Shomuthang, Robluthang, Limithnag, explore culture and nature exclusively at Laya then head further towards Chamsa, Gasa Tshachu, Punakha, Thimpu and finally get back to Paro. During all these trekking days, we traverse scenic farmlands and landscapes with picturesque Himalayan views, exploration of isolated Laya communities, take a hot spring at Gasa with plenty of sightseeing opportunities at Paro and Thimpu.

Classic Laya Trek is a tented camping adventure in Bhutan that exhibits best of cultural highlights with natural exploration opportunities. Good level of physical fitness is required for this trek and regarding the best seasons to visit, months from April to June and mid September to November are recommended. Itinerary Overview

  • Day 01: Arrive Paro by Druk Air A319, the only national carrier. On arrival and after visa formalities, meet, assist and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Kichu Resort.
    Day 02: Day hike to Taktsang monastery. Overnight at Kichu Resort.
    Day 03: Drive to Drugyel Dzong and start trek to 2800 meters at Shana camp. Walking time 5/6 hours.
    Day 04: Shana to Soi Thangthangkha. Camp at altitude of 3800 meters. Walking time 7/8 hours.
    Day 05: Soi to Jangothang. Camp at 4050 meters. Walking time 4/5 hours.
    Day 06: Soi to Jangothang. Camp at 4050 meters. Walking time 4/5 hours.
    Day 07: Jangothang to Lingshi. Camp at 4100 meters.Walking time 6/7 hours.
    Day 08: Lingshi to Chebisa. Camp at altitude of 3900 meters. Walking time 4/5 hours.
    Day 09: Chebisa to Shomuthang. Camp at 4250 meters. Walking time 7/8 hours.
    Day 10: Shomuthang to Robluthang. Camp at 4300 meters. Walking time 7/8 hours.
    Day 11: Robluthang to Limithang. Camp at 4100 meters. Walking time 7/8 hours.
    Day 12: Limithang to Laya. Camp at altitude of 3850 meters. Walking time 4/6 hours.
    Day 13: Laya halt. Explore the village by visiting the home of the laya people.
    Day 14: Laya to Koina. Camp at 3400 meters. Walking time 5/6 hours.
    Day 15: Koina to Gasa Hot spring. Camp altitude at 2200 meters. Walking time 6/7 hours.
    Day 16: Hot Spring to Goen Damji. Camp at 1850 meters. Walking time 4/5 hours.
    Day 17: Damji to Tashithang. End trek at Tashithang at 1550 meters. The bus will be waiting and proceed for 1 hour to Punakha. Visit the 17 centuary dzong and drive 45 minutes to Wangdue Kichu resort. Overnight at Kichu Resort.
    Day 18: Drive 4 hours to Paro via Thimphu. On arrival in Paro commence sightseeing. Overnight at Kichu resort.
    Day 19: Transfer to airport for final departure.
