Stunning Chomolhari Trek is one of the most popular trekking adventures in Bhutan that highlights the best of natural exploration and cultural insights. During our Stunning Chomolhari Trek, we get to walk through dense forests, pasture lands, alpine meadows, and hamlets including spectacular views of snow capped mountains including Mt. Chomolhari, Mt.Jichu Drake and neighboring peaks.

Stunning Chomolhari trek initiates as we fly to Paro airport on Druk Air, the only national carrier followed by completing visa formalities and relax at one of the fine resort. Initially we will be hiking for Taktsang Monastery, main highlight of Bhutan perched at vertical cliff of 900m above valley ground surface. Thenafter the real Chomolhari trek starts as we drive to Drugyel Dzong and set up camps at Shana. In the same way, we will be trekking through, Soil Thangthangkha, Jangothang, Lingshi, Shodu, Barshong, Dolam Kencho, Thimpu and finally back to Paro. During all these trekking days, we travel through spectacular landscapes, settlements, exploring their Buddhism cultures, traditions and also setting up camps at end of each day including overnight at base of Mt. Jumolhari. Around Thimpu and Paro, there are lots of sightseeing opportunities at Dzongs, monasteries, palaces, art and painting centers making this Chomalhari trek in fact a really stunning one.

Stunning Chomolhari Trek’s best seasons are between the months of April to June and between the months of September to November. Chomolhari trek is a tented camping trekking at high altitudes requiring quite a fair bit of physical fitness level with passion towards Himalayan trekking adventure. Itinerary Overview

  • Day 01 Arrive Paro by Druk Air A319, the only national carrier. On arrival and after visa formalities, meet, assist and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Kichu Resort.
    Day 02 Day hike to Taktsang monastery. Stroll back to Resort. Overnight at Kichu Resort.
    Day 03 Drive to Drugyel Dzong where the trek begins. Start trek tp Shana Camp.
    Camp at 2800 meters at Shana camp. Walking time 5/6 hours.
    Day 04 Shana to Soi Thangthangkha. Overnight camp an altitude of 3800 meters near a stone shelter. Walking time 7/8 hours.
    Day 05 Soi to Jangothang. Overnight camping. Walking time 4/5 hours.
    Day 06 Halt at Jangothang.
    Day 07 Jangothang to Lingshi. Overnight camping. Walking time 6/7 hours.
    Day 08 Lingshi to Shodu. Camp at 3750 meters. Walking time 7/8 hours.
    Day 09 Shodu to Barshong. Camp at 3500 meters. Walking time 5/6 hours.
    Day 10 Barshong to Dodina. End trek at Dodina drive 1 and half hour to Thimphu (capital city). Overnight at Hotel.
    Day 11 AM stroll around the market and drive 2 hours to Paro.
    PM Paro sightseeing. Overnight Kichu resort.
    Day 12 Transfer to airport for final departure.
